Your CV is important, but your LinkedIn profile is your 24/7 business card. Recruiters actively search for candidates on this platform every day. If your profile isn't optimized, you're missing out on opportunities without even realizing it.
How recruiters search on LinkedIn
Recruiters use LinkedIn Recruiter, a special tool that allows for advanced searching. They filter by job titles, skills, and locations. If these keywords aren't in your profile, you won't appear in the search results.
1. The Headline
This is the most important text on your profile. Don't just put your current job title here ("Account Manager at Company X"), but tell what you do.
Formula: [Job Title] | [Specialization/Expertise] | [Unique Value]
Example: Marketing Manager | B2B SaaS & Growth Hacking | Helping tech startups scale to €10M+
2. The Summary (About)
This is your elevator pitch. Write in the first person ("I"). Tell your story: who are you, what drives you, and what have you achieved? End with a Call to Action.
3. Skills & Endorsements
LinkedIn allows you to add up to 50 skills. Use them all! The algorithm relies heavily on this section for matching. Ensure your top 3 skills are relevant to the job you want, not the job you had 10 years ago.
